The new solution is based on the new architecture of Parallels FastLine, already proven in Parallels Desktop 4 for Mac, which provides significantly more opportunities in the product compared with the previous version. In addition to the traditionally solved virtualization products target of reducing the cost of purchasing equipment, Parallels Desktop 4 under Windows and Linux provides professional users with high speed and performance: support for two virtualization technology Intel VT-x (including the EPT, Flex Priority, VPIDs) and AMD-V ( including the RVI and ASIDs), running 32 - and 64-bit OS and applications. With support for up to eight virtual CPUs and eight gigabytes of virtual memory provided speed is eight times higher than before.

In connection with the transition to a new architecture of Parallels Desktop 4 under Windows and Linux uses Adaptive hypervisor, allows you to automatically reallocate resources between physical and virtual machines, depending on their load. In the product sold most of the long-used and very popular among users of Parallels Desktop for Mac features such as Coherence and SmartX tools with support for most USB-devices.

The new solution includes a special application Parallels Transporter for rapid migration of physical machines to virtual, which also allows you to import virtual machines from third parties. The additional integrated applications include tools Parallels Tools, to help users to optimize performance and usability of virtual machines. For example, Parallels Compressor automatically cleans up unused space on virtual hard drives, increasing the density and performance in a virtual environment by 50% by automatically minimizing the size of virtual machines.
